Vox NoVA is a premier, education-based area youth choir which was established by the Master Singers of Virginia in 2017. Directed by middle school director Charles Quinlan, Vox NoVA serves students in grades fourth through eighth. We focus on not only creating, rehearsing, and performing a meaningful concert, but building musicianship skills, practicing vocal techniques, and instilling a lifelong love of music.
The program augments school choral programs and provides additional instruction and performance opportunities with students throughout the Northern Virginia area. Students will gain experience singing in an ensemble with a solid vocal technique that allows the voice to grow and develop appropriately. They’ll study fundamental singing techniques, focusing on tone quality, intonation, ear training and music literacy. Singers will learn and perform repertoire from various styles and time periods in a fun, yet focused environment.
Rehearsals occur on Tuesdays at Rachel Carson Middle School (13618 McLearen Rd. in Herndon, VA 20171) from 5:30 – 7:00pm September - May. The school is right off of Rt. 28 and 20 minutes from Ashburn and Reston.
Tuition is $540 for the full season. This is an all-inclusive fee that can be paid up front at a reduced rate of $500 or split over nine months at $60/month. Prorated rates are available after the start of the season. A ten percent sibling discount is also provided.
member’s participation in two concerts, including any guest appearances at MSVA performances
a 90-minute weekly rehearsal with intensive focus on skill-building
copies of all octavos for the music chosen by the director, as well as a folder in which to store them
appearances of guest clinicians invited to work with the group
Compared to private lesson instruction, which typically can run $60/hour, Vox NoVA is an excellent value as well as a great way for your child to grow as a musician while being part of something greater than themselves.
Rehearsals are open! If your child would like to check out Vox NoVA, please let us know which rehearsal your student wishes to attend. If your child is ready to join, the director will arrange a placement audition. This does not determine acceptance into the choir, it simply gives the director a chance to get to know your child.
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to singing together!
