sleep and dream

As the weather warms, we dream of summer, and how we will fill the fleeting days ahead of us. We present a collection of marvelous music in this concert, designed to inspire the audience as we bring the season to a close. For the first time, we return to one of our favorite pieces, Knut Nystedt's The Word Became Flesh, the tour de force of one of the greatest choral composers of the 20th century. We bring you pieces about sleep from Eric Whitacre, Jake Runestad, and Ēriks Ešenvalds.  The concert also features Craig Hella Johnson's Hard Times Come Again No More, a marvelous arrangement, and one that we are happy to perform for the first time. Other highlights include: Dan Forrest's masterpiece, Entreat Me Not to Leave You, Patrick Hawes's Quanta Qualia made famous by Voces8, and our premiere of Carol Barnett's great spiritual, Wonder Where
